BENEFITS
RES has an exceptional track record in managing community relations. We pride ourselves on working closely with local communities to ensure that the wind farm not only sits well among the community but also brings tangible benefits such as a community fund, support for local groups and events as well as educational opportunities for local schools. The proposed wind farm will have an important role in boosting the local, regional and national economy. Where possible, RES will contract with local suppliers to undertake any work required to build and operate the wind farm throughout its lifecycle. The wind farm will help reduce the on-going emission of climate-changing pollution, whilst also improving security of supply, creating 'green-collar' jobs and bringing important economic benefits.
The Australian government has targets to generate electricity from wind energy and other renewable energy sources, which increase up until 2020. The Penshurst wind farm will provide a significant contribution to help Australia reach its Renewable Energy Targets to reduce green-house gas emissions.
RES is also very keen for its wind farms to be good neighbours and at each of our sites we investigate further initiatives which could provide direct benefits to the local people throughout the life of the wind farm.
